The role emphasizes inquiry-based and student-centered teaching, fostering curiosity, creativity, and holistic development. While not responsible for homeroom duties, the teacher is expected to contribute to students’ personal growth, positive behavior, and social-emotional well-being. Responsibilities Teaching and Learning Plan and deliver engaging, inquiry-based lessons that integrate the IBPYP transdisciplinary themes and the school’s curriculum requirements. Prepare lesson plans, teaching materials, and resources in advance, ensuring they are age-appropriate and engaging for primary students. Upload lesson plans, teaching slides, and supporting materials to the ManageBac platform on time, ensuring all documentation is accurate and complete. Create a positive and stimulating classroom environment that fosters curiosity, exploration, and collaborative learning. Use formative and summative assessments to monitor and evaluate student progress in alignment with IBPYP assessment principles. Provide regular, constructive feedback to students to guide their learning journey. Student Development and Well-being Promote the development of essential skills such as self-management, respect, and empathy in daily interactions with students. Observe and support students’ social-emotional growth, reporting any concerns to the appropriate pastoral or support team. Encourage students to develop good study habits, responsibility, and a sense of community. Model positive behavior and uphold school values in all interactions with students. Communication and Collaboration Collaborate closely with other teachers, grade-level teams, and the PYP coordinator to ensure curriculum coherence and a consistent learning experience. Communicate professionally with parents when required, providing updates on students’ progress and well-being. Participate in parent-teacher meetings, school events, and student exhibitions as requested. Professional Development and Contribution Engage in regular professional development opportunities, including PYP-related workshops, school-organized training, and peer learning. Contribute to curriculum development, planning meetings, and interdisciplinary projects. Share best practices and innovative teaching strategies within the teaching team.. Requirements Bachelor’s degree or above in the relevant subject area; teaching certification or education degree preferred. At least two years of teaching experience, ideally in an international or bilingual school setting. Familiarity with IBPYP philosophy, inquiry-based learning, and student-centered pedagogy preferred. Strong classroom management and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and engage young learners. Demonstrates flexibility and the ability to adapt to the workplace environment and social culture in China. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (native level or equivalent).
