MA TESOL

Introduction

I have experience in a wide range of educational settings and am a highly motivated individual. Over the past 15 years, I have shown great adaptability and willingness to work in an ever changing environment, whilst always keeping the students needs as a central focus. I am keen to continue working in this field and to learn and develop myself further professionally.

Teaching experience

I graduated from the University of Sheffield in 2011 with a 2.1 in Hispanic Studies. On graduating, I completed a Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) course and received a pass. In January of 2015, I started studying for an MA TESOL and Applied Linguistics at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge. I graduated with a Pass with MERIT. I then went onto complete the DELTA at International House, Madrid in 2018. For 15 years, I have worked in the field of English language education, and have taught a wide range of programmes to international students from across the world. My first teaching contract was in South Korea. I then worked in Istanbul and after that in Argentina. I have also taught English in several language schools situated in Cambridge, England. This 3 years full time work at EC Cambridge Language School. Afterwards, I worked with the Bell School in Cambridge teaching multiple classes, including on the University pathways programme. Afterwards, I worked with the University of Almeria in Spain, and in the summer breaks with King’s College London and the University of Bristol on their pre-sessional programmes. Since 2020 I have worked for Kanda University of International Studies (Japan), and am currently a Senior Lecturer of English. During this period, I have lectured and taught a range of courses, including courses and syllabus that have been created by myself as elective classes for senior students. I have actively researched and been published in a number of journals related to the field of language learning, completed a course in the field of language advising, and have presented at multiple domestic and international conferences. Furthermore, I have been a course coordinator and assistant coordinator in a task group, and played a support role in the University dormitory as a Dormitory Manager. During this period (2020-2022), I assisted with the provision of a number of workshops and training sessions that assisted both teachers and other educators.. In terms of assessment, I worked as a clerical examiner prior and during my academic studies. Over the past 5 years, I have also worked as a Cambridge and Pearson examiner in Tokyo, Japan and remotely. This has helped me to become not only familiar but more confident with assessment and the frameworks and applied standards. I have also carried out a number of other highly transferable roles that require a great level of attention to detail including an editorial role in the University’s domestic journal.
